Special Student Development Programmes Offered
CVSS strives to develop every student to his/her fullest potential, focusing on a holistic education through the North Star Education Programme (NSEP). The NSEP is purposefully customised to stretch our North Stars for all-round development through student leadership development, service learning, local and overseas learning journeys, environment education, cyber-wellness, outdoor adventure camps and the National Youth Achievement Award. The different developmental needs of our students are carefully considered to ensure that they are equipped with important life skills and 21st century competencies. Some highlights of NSEP include: (1) The school’s Applied Learning Programme, the Integrated Curriculum, develops our North Stars as critical thinkers through authentic learning experiences. This curriculum design emphasises the infusion of critical and creative thinking skills that allow students to understand the explicit inter-connectedness of knowledge constructs across disciplines. (2) The Inspired North Stars Inspire Actions programme has been conceptualised as a Learning for Life Programme (LLP) to instil in our North Stars a passion for living and learning through student leadership development and to inspire them to be committed to make positive impact on the community. Every North Star will have opportunities to learn and apply leadership skills through level-wide experiential programmes and Values-in-Action (VIA) programmes. (3) Our student-centric and innovative curriculum prepares our North Stars to be World Ready Youth. For example, lower secondary students attend Speech and Drama training to hone their oral and communication skills to help them become effective communicators. The school has also adopted the nearby Sengkang Floating Wetland which provides our North Stars with an enriching local perspective of issues as they go about learning Science and environment education.
