School Distinctive Programmes

InterdisciplinaryNurturing Reflective and Independent Learners through the Thinking Curriculum
Community & Youth LeadershipNurturing a Leader in Every Kranjian

Special Student Development Programmes Offered

In Kranji Secondary School, we see innovation as a way of life to support our vision of developing ‘confident learners with the passion to excel’. Through our Applied Learning Programme (ALP), Thinking Curriculum, Kranji Secondary nurtures communities of reflective and independent learners. The learning of Thinking Routines through the Thinking Curriculum, allows students to learn tools to make their thinking visible, thus enriching and enhancing their learning. With the Thinking Routines integrated into the various curricular subjects, students develop dispositions to think both critically and inventively, and analyse situations from different perspectives, increasing the level of engagement in their learning. The school has been accorded the LLP (Learning for Life Programme) in Student Leadership. The objective of the programme is to develop A Leader in Every Kranjian. The vision for student leadership in the school is closely linked to the school vision – ‘Confident Learners with the Passion to Excel, Active Citizens with a Heart to Serve’. It is thus the fundamental belief of the school that every individual can be a leader, and the role of the school is to realise the leadership potential in every student through training and creating platforms in which students are able to apply their leadership skills. The school has a vibrant aesthetics development programme and all lower secondary students are exposed to a range of music skills and dances such as the guitar ensemble and ethnic dances so that they develop an appreciation for the arts and culture. To inculcate a spirit of active citizenry, the school initiates and collaborates extensively with external partners in environmental-related projects nationwide.
