Other school features and achievements
1. Art Costa’s 16 Habits of Mind (HOM) – a curricular model for inculcating intelligent thinking behaviour – undergirds the whole-school programme. In today’s world, it is not how much students know that counts, but how they behave when they don’t know. Please visit the school website for more information. 2. Independent Self-Paced Learning (ISPL). The essence of the ISPL programme is for students to take ownership of their own learning as they have to learn and complete lesson packages (for all subjects) independently.

InterdisciplinaryPromoting Effective Thinking Strategies (PETS)
Special Student Development Programmes Offered
Our niche programme, ‘Promoting Effective Thinking Strategies’ (PETS), which is anchored in Arthur L. Costa’s Habits of Mind (HOM), equips BBSSians holistically for the challenges of the 21st century. It inculcates good learning habits and thinking dispositions so that BBSSians can become self-directed, life-long learners. BBSSians systematically learn the 16 habits of mind through hands-on experiences and then put these habits into practice daily, in curricular as well as co-curricular areas. We also endeavour to nurture BBSSians to become future leaders through our Youth Leadership (YL) Programme. BBSSians have opportunities to develop leadership traits through active participation in the organisation of school-wide events like Project Mi, Resilience Challenge, No Shoe Day and Blood Donation Drive. They also have opportunities to participate in leadership camps and more rugged activities like the Outward Bound and overseas expeditions. Every year, through our structured Arts Education Programme, BBSSians obtain first-hand experience in different Art forms, such as Graffiti, Brazilian Street Percussion, Poetry Slam etc., and develop an appreciation for the Aesthetics. (NOTE: Students offering MTL Syllabus B and Higher MTL subjects may be required to attend lessons at other centres.)
