Special Student Development Programmes Offered
The school’s Applied Learning Programme, ‘SP2A’ (Sports Sciences, Physiology, Pharmacology and Alternative Medicine) integrates learning through the Health Sciences. It provides an authentic setting for students to connect and apply what they have learnt in the classroom to the real world. Students will be exposed to the different domains of the Health Sciences through lessons, enrichment classes, workshops and learning journeys. Opportunities are also provided for students to further develop their interest in the Health Sciences through participating in science research, Elective Modules, Advance Elective Modules and attachments to Health Science related companies or institutions. The school’s Learning for Life Programme, ‘GEARing Springfielders for Success’, is centred around the school’s values and focus on student leadership development and inculcation of a strong spirit of volunteerism in Springfielders. Key traits are purposefully infused within the co-curriculum in a thematic manner. Students acquire the desired traits over their 4-5 years of education through programmes such as camps (both local and overseas), Inter-Disciplinary Project Work and Career Guidance programmes. Those with talent are further developed through specialised and overseas training. Other flagship programmes which equip our students with 21st century competencies are the Drama in Curriculum and the Vibrancy in Innovation and Design (VID) programme. Through these programme, students are provided with Integrated, Diverse, Engaging, Authentic and Self-Directed (IDEAS) learning opportunities. In the Drama in Curriculum programme, drama techniques are used to develop students in information and communication skills and become confident users of English. An inter-disciplinary programme, VID develops students to be inventive thinkers through creating design related works.
