Special Student Development Programmes Offered

Leveraging our strong partnerships with the polytechnics and our tradition of providing an engineering-based education, we provide our students the opportunity to pursue applied subjects such as Fundamentals of Electronics, as well as Elective and Advanced Elective Modules. Students of different abilities also have the opportunity to offer subjects such as Additional Mathematics and Literature (English), on top of the Pure Sciences. To give our students a competitive advantage in the 21st Century, the school is developing an Applied Learning Programme, ‘Tanglin P.L.U.S.’ (Perspectives and Literacies to Understand Society), to equip Tanglinians with effective communication and critical thinking skills and a global outlook. Besides grounding student students in theory, the learning experiences comprise field-based learning, projects and a speaker series. This enables students to experience and appreciate the real-world application of English Language and the Humanities. In Tanglin Secondary School, we also offer a customised Aesthetics Education Programme that equips every student with a passion and an appreciation for the aesthetics. Established since 2005, the programme provides our students a range of modules, from dance to guitar to vocal training, to choose from. It enables students to work under the guidance of professionals in the field, and also perform at various school and public platforms. Students emerge as confident individuals who are able to explore self-expression through different aesthetics mediums. Our customised four-year Student Leadership Development Programme ensures that our students are equipped with leadership skills and competencies, so that they become compassionate leaders who are ready to serve society. Our four-tiered student leadership structure provides students with opportunities to assume leadership roles as Student Councillors, Cyberwellness Ambassadors, Environment Champions and Sports Leaders.
