Special Student Development Programmes Offered

Our Learning for Life Programme (LLP) “Values And Character BuiLding Through Outdoor CURriculum” (VALOUR) focuses on values acquisition and character building through an outdoor curriculum. Unique learning opportunities, incorporating adventure skills, enhance students’ self-esteem, self-confidence, independence and social-emotional competencies. Students may apply for Direct School Admission (DSA) through VALOUR. Our Applied Learning Programme (ALP): Heartland Entrepreneurship @ Si Ling (HeartS) focuses on Business & Entrepreneurship. All the students learn the skills of Financial Management to better prepare for their work life. The ALP equips students with basic entrepreneurship skill-sets that they can utilise to recognise, seek and capitalise on business opportunities that they may encounter in their daily lives. We customise the school curriculum to cater to students’ interests, needs, abilities and learning styles. Some of the flagship programmes that we have designed include: 1. BELLS – Our structured English Language Programme incorporated into the timetable for all our lower secondary students to boost their English Language proficiency. 2. SM@THS – Our Maths Department Framework where all classes are banded by ability with differentiated instruction for different ability groups. There is also a structured Peer Tutoring Programme which helps all students improve in Mathematics. 3. Retail Operations – Our Normal Technical students are offered Retail Operations, an ITE Applied Subject, which is taught by a lecturer seconded from ITE. 4. SilcARTS – Our enhanced Aesthetics Programme develop our students’ appreciation and capability in the Arts. It culminates in our annual School Musical which is enjoyable and educational. 5.
