School Distinctive Programmes

Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM)Exploring Possibilities with Materials Science using Design Thinking

Special Student Development Programmes Offered

The school’s Applied Learning Programme (ALP), ‘Exploring Possibilities with Materials Science’, combines academic knowledge with real world applications and is taught using a user-centered problem-solving methodology. The programme aims to imbue students with a scientific and design thinking mind-set and equip them with foundational research and experimental skills through exploratory hands-on activities. The programme also provides opportunities for students to appreciate the advancements in materials science and gives them a glimpse into the possible scientific pursuits that are available in the post-secondary landscape. The school’s Learning for Life Programme (LLP) called The Pioneer-STAR! (Shine Through the Arts) Programme gives our students the opportunities to Shine in the Arts through the progressive development of their artistic skills in different art forms through our tiered 4E Arts Framework (Expose, Explore, Experience, Enhance) and Shine As A Person through an aesthetic curriculum that has the personal development of our students in values, socio-emotional competencies, community service and life-skills as its foundation. A dedicated Student Development Team works in collaboration with the academic Heads to deliver level-wide enrichment programmes such as the signature 3-day school-wide programme consisting of a Drama Camp, an Outdoor Adventure Camp and Values in Action (VIA) programmes. Students can also participate in Twinning Programmes with our overseas partner schools or immerse themselves in intercultural exchange and collaborative learning through our Asia-Europe Foundation ClassNet projects. With these programmes, all Pioneer students will be confident persons, self-directed learners, concerned citizens and active contributors to society.
