Special Student Development Programmes Offered
SPARCLE (School Programme for Active Resilience, Character and Leadership Education) is one of the signature programmes designed by the school to provide self-leadership opportunities to the broader student population. As part of this programme, students involve themselves in a week-long out-of-classroom experience where they learn, practise and reflect on values and social emotional competencies in an authentic learning environment. The school also offers a Science Research Programme, Arts Education Programme and an Internationalisation Programme (Malaysia & China) for its students. ‘Game for Life’, our school’s Learning for Life Programme, leverages on sports and physical activities to prepare Northlanders for life by imbuing them with strong social-emotional competencies grounded on our core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resoluteness. Students will also be empowered with the passion, knowledge and skills to lead a life of healthy and sporting pursuits. In addition, students with sporting talent will be identified and progressively developed through exposure to competitive sports within and beyond the school. The school has a proud sporting tradition, especially in Hockey and Floorball, with several of the school’s players going on to represent Singapore and many representing clubs in the local leagues. The King’s Pipe Band, which is part of the formidable Boy’s Brigade contingent is also highy-regarded in South East Asia and has added a unique dimension to the school with the sounds of Scottish bagpipes and drums. The school also has a good proportion of students with artistic flair who leverage on the various platforms created by the school, such as performing arts CCAs, public performances, art exhibitions and talent quests to hone and showcase their talents.
