Other school features and achievements

  Our values-based Character Education (CE) Curriculum is designed to develop in students a passion for learning, confidence in the pursuit of success and the humility to lead and serve. The FAJAR values (LEARN with humility, GIVE with joy, SHINE with confidence) and the Social Emotional Competencies form the foundation of our Character Development Framework. Besides explicit teaching of the CE Curriculum, we have also infused it into the Instructional Programme and reinforced it through students’ involvement in CCA and Student Leadership Programme. We also develop our students in other ways through a diverse selection of elective modules offered to Secondary 3 and 4 students to meet their learning needs and interest.

Special Student Development Programmes Offered

In line with the school mission of transforming every student into an extraordinary leader, we are committed to our effort in bringing out the leadership potential in every Fajarian through our Student Leadership Programme. This programme will be developed as our Learning for Life Programme (LLP) and aims to prepare our students from Sec 1 to Sec 5 with the necessary 21st Century skills, core values and social and emotional competencies to face the challenges of the future. Our ‘Educate-Encourage-Empower’ framework and whole-staff involvement ensure an integrated and systematic student leadership development effort. Every student is ‘educated’ with an enhanced awareness of leading self and others, as well as relevant life-skills through the Leadership Series Workshop and the CCE lessons. Different segments of student leaders (including class chairpersons and committee members) are given additional training to perform their roles and responsibilities well. Recognition structures are in place to ‘encourage’ personal mastery and development of leadership skills. Our students are also ’empowered’ to undertake self-initiated projects, to organise student-led events, and to give feedback and suggestions for school improvement and take follow-up action. Besides the CCAs, our students acquire important life skills through the Swimming Programme (Sec 1/2); from the communal living in the annual Sec 2 Adventure Camp; and in their participation of overseas service-learning projects.
