Sports & Outdoor EducationCharacter Development through Outdoor Learning Experience (OLE)

Special Student Development Programmes Offered

Signature programmes that provide the ‘Unique AI Experience’ include the following. 1) Outdoor Learning Experience (OLE) is the school’s distinctive programme in its Learning for Life Programme (LLP). Through OLE, all students experience outdoor adventure over their years in school. It is a broad-based developmental programme that spans from Sec 1 to 3, with extended opportunities for Sec 4 students with special interest in outdoor activities. OLE’s wide range of outdoor activities provides students with authentic, real world experiences to learn collaborative leadership, resilience, and teamwork. It builds students’ mental and emotional strength through taking on physical challenges. It also develops important socio-emotional competencies for students to thrive in the 21st century. 2) Through the whole-school service learning programme, all students undertake a class-initiated school or community project to put values into action. 3) The Special NT programme helps NT students discover themselves, and develops students’ confidence and resilience through kayaking, sports climbing. It also exposes students to the aesthetics, and work attachments. 4) As part of the school’s long tradition in shooting, all Sec 1 students undergo a general introduction to shooting as a sport through the PE curriculum. AISS also offers a Mainstream Education Programme for the visually-impaired students.
