Special Student Development Programmes Offered

As an Autonomous School, St. Margaret’s delivers an all-round education and has distinctive programmes in the Cognitive, Arts, Sports and Student Leadership domains to develop and hone student talents. With a rich heritage as the oldest girls’ school in the Far East, we receive strong support from the stakeholder community for our programmes. Our partners’ contributions range from an Assembly Speaker Series by alumnae who have established themselves in their professions, to inspire and encourage the students, and extend to offering opportunities for our Sec 3 students to embark on work experience and work attachment stints. Our students achieve academic excellence through a sound and rigorous curriculum that adopts a pedagogical framework utilising elements of Understanding by Design and Critical Thinking to deepen students’ understanding and encourage inventive thinking; online platforms and school-developed mobile apps are further leveraged to enhance their learning experience. All our students are developed in leadership skills and dispositions through a tiered leadership programme based on The Leadership Challenge and are coached closely by their teachers to guide their growth as leaders. As the Centre of Excellence for Visual and Performing Arts for the S6 Cluster, we are well-resourced with facilities such as an Art Studio, Art Gallery and Performing Arts Studio. Our students undergo a structured programme that exposes them to varied art forms and provides them with diverse artistic experiences. Students may also pursue the arts at the upper secondary level through the Enhanced Music Programme (EMP), Art or Drama programmes. Through a strong and vibrant Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) programme, the integration of values in the curriculum and co-curriculum, the daily sharing of values and the Ethical Choices (EtCh) Programme, our students hone their socio-emotional competencies, imbibe sound values and learn to make ethical choices in life.
