Other school features and achievements

  Swiss Cottage celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2013. It is a school with a rich heritage, well-established educational practices and multitudes of school, group and individual achievements including academic, character development and community service awards. Swiss students have been achieving good academic and non-academic results over the years. The three LKY-ARE Awards (2008, 2012, 2013) and two CDAs (2006, 2011) are testament to the school’s success in providing holistic education and its continuous efforts and emphasis in student character development. The success of Swiss Cottage is attributed to the past 50 years of school-building by its school leaders, staff, students and school community in developing the Swiss Spirit.

Special Student Development Programmes Offered

Swiss Cottage delivers a Total Curriculum covering a comprehensive Student Development Programme, a rigorous Instructional Programme and two Distinctive Programmes: Swiss Thoughtful Leadership Programme (TLP) and Applied Sciences Programme. The TLP integrates Student Leadership, Values in-Action (VIA), and our newly-developed Glocal (global and local) Perspectives programmes. It provides our students with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to explore and embark on possible VIA or social action projects, either to serve the community or to address issues of their concern. The Applied Sciences Programme aims to equip our students with specialised scientific skills and knowledge through the curriculum and authentic learning platforms such as VIA and research projects, attachment opportunities and mentoring by our teachers or industry/academia partners. Students learn to appreciate the interconnections between the various fields of sciences and aspire towards a science related career. The Student Development Programme includes the core CCE and student well-being programmes, a wide range of CCAs, and enrichment and talent development programmes to broaden our students’ world view and hone their unique strengths. The Instructional Programme provides a broad-based and rigorous foundation for post-secondary education. We also implement a wide range of academic enrichment programmes across all levels and streams to develop students’ 21st century competencies. These include the Horizon (overseas cultural immersion trip), drama enrichment, Maths Olympiad and Science Talent Development programmes.
