Special Student Development Programmes Offered
Both curricular and co-curricular programmes are designed to incorporate constructivist learning with the aim of providing our students with rich and authentic learning experiences. Specific and level-wide programmes are progressively facilitated, starting with the Secondary 1 Orientation Camp. This is followed by the Eco-Adventure Camp at Secondary 2, an Overseas Trip with a focus on understanding and appreciating rice-planting at Secondary 3 and culminates in the symbolic pinnacle Walk of Dreams at Secondary 4 & 5. All these serve to develop in our students a host of cognitive, physical, social and emotional skills and values. Complementing the level-wide programmes is a host of signature programmes that serve to engage students meaningfully and to broaden their perspectives on 21st century scenarios. These signature programmes include the multi-disciplinary EXALT (Experiential and Authentic Learning Trail) at Bishan-AMK Park, Destination Carbon Zero Programme that allows students to design model-cars propelled by water-fuel cells, Forensic Science Programme based on the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) TV series, Thank Goodness It’s Friday (TGIF) Programme for NT students to engage in hands-on learning experiences such as making of gelato and recycled paper, Barter Trade Bazaar Programme where students learn entrepreneurial skills and the value of used goods and recycling, Living Lit Up programme at lower secondary that offers students an all-embracing Literature curriculum covering prose, poetry and play, ‘Think Out Loud’ thinking routines incorporated in curricular and co-curricular programmes, the STEM Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in Environmental Science for Sustainable Living, and the Learning for Life Programme (LLP) in the Aesthetics HeARTbeat – Art for Life.
